International workshop
“INTERNAL ORGANISATION, COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS AMONG FIRMS AND COMPETITIVENESS”

Workshop theme
The internal organisation of firms and their cooperative relations have been analysed by recent economic literature. On internal organisation, greatest attention has been focused on the nature of hierarchical relations, coordination and incentive mechanisms, while studies of relations among firms have examined hybrid forms. However, the theme of the relationship between organisation structures and competitiveness of the firm has not been addressed in depth. Organisation has mainly been studied in its own right. Surprisingly, the dimension of firm competitiveness has almost always been poorly developed or completely neglected. The workshop will aim at discussing the links between organisational structures, cooperative relations and competitiveness of the firms.

Deadlines
.- Deadline for submission of an extended paper abstract (1,000-1,200 words): 15th September 2006
- Decision of paper acceptance: 30th September 2006
- Deadline for submission of completed papers: 31st December 2006. Papers will be sent as an attachment to participants before the workshop

Number of participants
We plan for around 60 participants.
Registration fees and accommodation
Participants are required to complete the registration and reservation form (please download, print and return the registration and accommodation form to Genny Gabrielli or Elisa Lumeridi – ITWG Tour Operator by fax 0039 0583 908821).
Registration fees: 120 euros (for PhD students 85 euros), plus euros 30.00 as addition for booking received after 10th November. Registration fees include conference attendance, two buffet lunches, four coffee/tea breaks. Euros 30 fee for the workshop dinner.
Hotel reservations must be made via ITWG Tour Operator (see the list of hotels and prices in the Registration form).

The Meeting will take place at:

Lucca (Italy).
Lucca is a very attractive medieval city with a full ring of surrounding walls and many historical monuments. Lucca is about half an hour from Pisa Airport and an hour from Florence Airport (by car or by train).
